Jan 14

A trip to the beach again and it was a perfect day for it. A bit cloudy , but hot ! And there was a great breeze coming off the bay too. Guayabitos Playa (beach) is a 30 minute walk for us , or a 25 peso cab ride. We prefer to walk there and take a cab back in the hot afternoon sun later in the day. Mimi and Yves live in a casa that is 2 minutes from the beach, so we stopped in to get our towels and change. We borrow 2 chairs and an umbrella and off we go.
The beach is the best one for miles. The Pacific coast is very rough. There really is no safe swimming beach in Puerto Vallarta , for example. Guayabitos is a former fishing villiage. When the gov't decided to build "Gringo Gulch" for the  tourists, the fisherman were moved to either La Penita or Los Ayala so the hotels would have safe beaches.
There are a lot of peddlars on the beach, but if you say "no gracias" they will leave you alone. We spent about 3 hours in the shade of a palm tree under an umbrella reading, watching the people walk by and just relaxing. There are a lot of Canadians down here. On the beach we've met people from Vancouver, Summerland and San Diego. A lot of retirees come down here , I'm glad to say that we look a lot younger than most of them.
After we took our stuff back to Mimi's, we went for a long beach walk and stopped in a little restaurant on the beach for a cervesa and lunch and met some more people from Summerland. There are lots of places to eat there , but we look for a place with a lot of gringos so we know the food is safe. After that , we bought some veggies for salsa and caught a cab back home.
Thanks for stopping in again.
This is a view from the pool area thru the garden to our outside eating area.
